People pushing apocalyptic predictions are a dime and a dozen, maybe write about things that need fixing and how it could be done, or find something else to write about. But that would take actual brainpower...
I don't think endorsing this clickbait with your attention is productive. There's no evidence it's a failing state or why it should be considered an experiment.
The idea of America being an experiment is much, much older than the author of this article. It's not inherently derogatory, if that's what you're worried about.
