Would they prefer the government to pay salaries of employees whose employers make losses and aren't going to be viable after crisis is over?

If you want to complain about something, you should first (and only) complain about the government itself. It has always spent other people's hard-earned monies, it hasn't cut taxes or laid off tens of thousands of now idle employees and while the burden of maintaining the government is falling on an ever smaller number of profit-making enterprises the government is increasing its spending (and everyone's amount of public debt) without asking for anyone's approval or permission. Booking may ask for whatever they want. That doesn't mean the government should do it.
