Wow, that satifies intellectual curiosity! :)
This is not a good thing. You should give it more thought. This is not a good course of action for you.
You must see your self from outside yourself and understand that you may be experiencing many things as a result from circumstance and happenstance. You body chemistry could make you feel all kinds of things. You must distinguish between your temporal disposition and the permanent results of other actions. You must be intelligent about your own biased cognitive perspective, no?
Measuring apathy? Don't worry, everything is going to be okay.
This is not the right answer to anything, especially to the innocence of your children. The world is a beautiful place - even when it does such a masterful job of only showing a reflection of pain and suffering.

There are so many of us here to help and show you that even when one feels lost, there are friends to help show the way.

Let me, and others help you. Everyone has their challenges. I am in pain every day because I dont get to see my daughter very often, that I am living paycheck to paycheck and that I cant seem to find a way out of debt.

But I let my depression be tempered with the beauty and love of life. I find laughter and dont give power to the things that diminish me.

Love your children, know that there is tremendous TREMENDOUS facility in them, and yourself, to persevere and overcome and be happy when you seem to have nothing.

I know that having no money can be exceptionally depressing when you have kids - if you cant feed them, let be buy you a meal or some groceries.

Seek help, seek support - dont give in to sorrow.

reddit.com is full of people who are ready willing and capable of lifting your spirits and giving you hope and help.

I am one of them - where are you?

I am living paycheck to paycheck and that I cant seem to find a way out of debt

This is a really good point on this topic. Debt has been the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of people when it comes to suicide and it is sad. At least in the US, we have a wealth of options available to us when it comes to debt recourse. One of the core ideal that our founders held was that we would not be a debtors nation and that at any time one could declare bankruptcy from debt

The only debt that cannot be absolved is debt to the government which pretty much means that if your debt is not tax money owed to the government you can walk away from it (student loans too because they are considered government debt due to the explicit guarantee).

Anyways point it, it is sad that so many people choose such a drastic option when debt recourse is so easy in this country, there is no shame in bankruptcy, especially given the bailouts and the current economic environment. Anyone considering suicide because they are feeling trapped in debt should try bankruptcy first, many will be surprise at how much better they feel after it is all over.

That you're posting it on HN means that you wish for some response from fellow hackers.

Whatever you feel, listen to the advice given here. We're acting as your proxy conscience - your 'inner voice'.

Don't act on your feelings. Talk to a friend, or a professional. Or even post more here - we're listening!

If that were true, as fractallyte says, you wouldn't be here.

Please talk to someone who can help:

National suicide hotline: 1-800-273-8255

Remember:

- Depression can be effectively treated.

- Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

- A mother should not kill her children -- that's not a way to love or protect them.

Please, get help -- you can make it through this.

1-800-273-8255

As they say, operators are standing by. For you. And your kids.

"The medication and the therapy I got for my bipolar condition ended my suicidal ideation. If ever the thought occurs to kill myself - and it sometimes does- I dismiss it immediately. Life has too much to offer to spend any time wasted in thoughts of death by my own hand. Life is too short to contemplate long term solutions of nothingness."

That's the last paragraph of a Psychology Today article by a guy who attempted suicide and was consumed with suicidal thoughts for years afterwards:

Please take it to heart.

Paul Graham you really need to track this guy down and get him and his family help through the emergency services.
Your kids love you and value you. They need you to take care of them.
Call your local emergency help line now and talk to someone about it.
3 words: Don't do it. If not for yourself then for your children.
Can anyone track down this person from their account name? Cassie Yunis?
Don't kill yourself. Call me, 845.417.1781....I have a project that will save your life....my name is George...remember, your gonna die someday already, so why die now.......call me, we'll get super rich before we die and we'll make sure your kids live an amazing life.
If this is a real threat, then please if you take nothing else to heart take this to heart. You kids are innocent in this whole thing, they don't suffer the demons that you suffer. If you are afraid of what will happen to them after you are gone, then the solution is not to end their life, which they cherish, it is to seek help so that you can be there for them, there really is life after depression, I know the pit seems deep but you can dig out.In the end, I believe the right to take ones life is a personal choice and you have to face whether life is so bad that it cannot be enjoyable, but you have no right to make that decision for your children, they love life and it would be taking something they cherish dearly away from them. If nothing else, seek help to clear your mind of the ideation of harming your children, because that is what it is, harming them, you will not be helping them by taking their life.
