you started eng career with a language you didn't want..successfully switched?
For various reasons, I ended up at a small startup after graduating where the stack is mainly ruby/rails. I was unsure about taking the position but since I was having trouble getting a role and with others encouraging I decided to take on the role for a year.
Lately, I'm starting to regret that decision. For the most part I've been pretty happy at the company and with my team - more so than any of the prior years of non eng work. Otherwise, it seems like I have two issues...
1. I'm not getting the same recruiter reach out that others in my program receive via linkedin
2. The few that I get are always stacks that I would prefer to be in ... never ruby / rails.
I guess I was wondering if it was easy to move out of the stack you started out with. I've written in a lot of different languages over the years especially because of degree program so learning something quickly to be productive shouldn't be a problem.
But resume screening will probably be an issue?
