Inter-generational warfare playing out in real time.

As we light the future on fire of a generation who’s sun is still rising, to preserve the sunset of the last generation.

No surprises which way institutions tilt, given the concentration of power and wealth in the old...

This is a tragedy - but once again, outline.com saves the say.

It isnt the virus's fault that western nations dismantled their means to address this crisis before the pandemic hit.

Donate to your local Food Bank. Help out at Food Not Bombs near you. Feed people who need help, ya people. And help your community meet their needs!!! Even while Social Distancing.

As for student access - this absolutely shows that access to information and the internet has become a basic human right. Spectrum is offering free wifi to all in their service areas during the pandemic, after several hyper-local cooperative competitors did the same. Push for this trend to continue!

Countries where such access is either assured or alternatives for education are offered do exist. And they have better outcomes.

Notice how these schools which issued student-devices close much of this gap. This should be the case more often in our increasingly digital world anyway - to combat the need for impoverished families to pay for entire appliances to catch up.

As for the self-starter culture - thats what we want anyway. Hover-mommies aside, do your schoolwork before playing any games, kids. If it is too hard? Maybe other symptoms of ADHD already show themselves. This is one area where DRM might even be ethical for a change.

As for the parents - too often, theyre looking for something to do. Or parallel remote-working alongside your child becomes an option. Or do projects, like spring cleaning or mask-making.

Or, leaving the child unattended to work essential job becomes a daily hazard. This is where friends, neighbors, COMMUNITIES become essential for success. If you have a food not bombs branch near you, you'll likely find someone through the grapevine there willing to help. Helpers like this always want your needs met.

With student-issued devices, free/universal internet access, and effective decentralized food assistance? Proper child-supervision might be assured? The biggest challenge remaining is domestic violence - a scourge that has been hard to fight on its own since before we considered it a problem.
