$21.95 an hour -- better than flipping burgers.
Better? When you flip burgers, you're not in the rain and your shift does not take 41hrs. This neither sounds healthy nor admirable to me.
I'm SURE she'll report that on her 2011 taxes, right?!
Only $900? I bet she could have gotten more than that if she'd tried...
Then again, a bird in the hand...

Another approach would have been to auction the spot, thus guaranteeing* a $900 minimum and also opening it up to competitive bids.

* enforceability with strangers on a street in NY notwithstanding

I actually took pictures of the first people in line, waiting outside of NYC's 24hr Apple store last night - one of our rainiest nights of the year! You can check some of the pics out on my flickr page. #candyspan
Ive never understood how people could want something so bad to wait in line like that. I really don't get it.
I suppose it's the same reason why people would stand in line to buy popcorn in a movie theatre. Sure you could buy it some other time, but it's not quite the same "experience". (and no, I would never wait in line for hours to buy an iWhatever)
I've never understood how people could want something so bad to pay an extra $900 just to be the first to buy something like that. I really don't get it.
"He’s not alone in paying for the cache of being among the first to purchase apple products."

cache? sigh

Now why didn't I think of that.
I was right with her until I got to this sentence:

"She plans to buy tickets to a Lady Gaga concert with the cash that she earned for her trouble."
