Ask HN: Examples of Positive Leadership?

It's commonly portrayed in media that being an asshole is required to be an effective leader.

Perhaps the most shining example is Steve Jobs. Just append "asshole" or "jerk" to his name in a Google search and you'll have many examples. While Steve achieved many great things, people often take away that toxic behavior is a requirement, which doesn't sound right to me.

I personally know great leaders, but they're not famous enough to be relevant to other people.

What are examples of leaders who did great things and weren't assholes most of the time?
