Amazon interns in other countries living in the US

We know that Amazon is paying much less stipend in other countries (EU, Asia) as compared to the US. Despite that, some of us decided to intern because of machine learning roles which are hard to get in the US. To the people doing an intern in a country not where you are living in but can't visit because of COVID-19, is Amazon/other companies paying the same stipend? Is yes, shouldn't it be according to the US ? Some of us stuck in US still have to pay rent in USD and living expenses, which is really unfair in my belief.
