Ask HN: How do large companies manage media libraries?

I work in a public school which is adapting to remote teaching and learning, and looking ahead to the Fall and beyond, we're creating more digital assets and supports than ever before using photos and videos.

Our staff is trying to collaborate to create everything we'll need and it's a big challenge to manage different versions and keep track of which students are pictured, whether there's a media release for them, what event the video or photo is associated with...

Our school uses Google Apps Suite to collaborate on shared documents, and we've never really explored using google photos to help us... is that the right step?

How do large distributed teams collaborate and share media assets? Do you have any experience with common ways to handle challenges like these?
