Ask HN: Alternative to Avatars.io?

I noticed avatars.io seems to have disappeared. The creator deleted github information even, domain doesn't resolve. I was using this for projects and noticed a lot of empty images now which I would like to fix.

Does anyone know of any alternatives that work as well? Or open source versions I could host?
