If they actually valued life, shouldn't they be doing something like distributing masks and sanitizers while holding banners instead of rioting? Or am I missing something?

There is a huge problem here with characterizing the various actors in this situation using the anonymous "they".

Yes, we do see the people on the news who use the mask of chaos to do bad things; but most people are protesting peacefully against mistreatment of people within our fellow citizens. There are even those doing as you described: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/2020/06/03/dc-prote...

The deaths causing the riots is way more than 1. It’s 1 more to a list that has been growing since before America was founded.
