Is acknowledging these events "political?" Was the spraying and turning of dogs against protesters in Birmingham Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement an action that is only opposed by "political" actors?
> I think we should offer our support not only to black engineers but to the black community as well. I think this is the least we can do for them.
This "black bar" act did not happen with innocents like Michael Brown, Eric Garner, David Dorn, Patrick Underwood, etc. From notable deaths, Koby Bryant tributes were censored heavily here, even when recent articles posted here broke HN guidelines multiple times.
Not even fellow video game cartridge inventor Gerald "Jerry" Lawson got any black bar recognition. Only 'rich' or 'famous' engineers did which HN is generally selective towards those people. This request is at least influenced by virtue signalling just because everyone else is doing it.
Just stick to being Hacker News. This is nothing more than a politicised and most possibly a hypocritical response to make.
