Ask HN: If you are PM, do you code? What do you use and why?

I'm staring to find out (due to some interviews I have), people get confused that I can program given that I'm a PM. I code mostly in Ruby, and do data analysis with SQL but I can also use Python.

I usually code either because I need to automate my QA with Selenium/Capybara, do SQL queries for data analysis, but also because it's a hobby: so I can create MVPs at anytime.

I think that is a benefit, what other PMs here think about? Are there PMs interested in coding? Why?

Just one more thing, I noticed that companies that are trying to hire Technical PMs tend to be more familiar with the idea of PM who can code.
