Ask HN: What attributes do you prioritize in the “opening” set of employees?
The context is we are at count=3 employees right now and actively interviewing.
Of course there is no right answer to this question and I am certainly not looking for a generic bullet-point list of traits. Instead, I value the spectrum of individual experiences the HN crowd has been through and wish to hear your personal, unique take on how to build an initial/core team.
Hindsight is 20/20 and some of you likely went down a fruitful hiring path that you would readily mimic once again; others may have had people crash & burn (or just flounder) and can now sit back, reflect, and hopefully pass on some hard-earned insight to the rest of us.
(Answering in the negative with traits to avoid could also be of value.)
