I don't believe the U.S. would risk a nuclear confrontation with China just to please India. Why would the U.S. care if India showers China with nukes?
There would only be a shrug.
I do believe there's a fair chance that India and Pakistan will start a nuclear war in the coming 20 years or so. Maybe several tens om millions will die, but that's peanuts compared to India's population of 1.3 billion and Pakistan's 100 million.
No one will care. At least not enough to start a war over.
