Ask HN: What is your stance on the GMO vs. non GMO debate?

Asking here because this is an audience that hopefully knows what it is talking about. Even though i personally bend towards the benefits (only worried about IP monopolies) i am eager to hear about well researched and serious issues that do not amount to fear mongering. With CRISPR applications in agriculture opening up many new possibilities i am really wondering if we could actually have drought resistant, higher yielding, pesticide free and tastier versions of crops available in gluten free version year round.
