Ask HN: Pricing model for standalone desktop apps

I'm working on a standalone desktop app as a side project. Think of it as something comparable to excel product-wise. I'm struggling to imagine how to price and license this. I think it's primarily going to be of interest to businesses, in particular project management. Does HN have any advice or lessons learned in this area?
