Ask HN: Slack runs files instead of opening folder

I've noticed that slack is now just opening/running the files when you download a shared one. This seems to be a bit problematic for me as sometimes we get files without extensions or I want to choose the app that should open the file given its context or I would like to inspect/scan the file before opening it. Slack used to open you to the folder that the file was downloaded but now they just run it. Does anyone else see this as a problem? Am I thinking about this wrongly or justified in my annoyance?
