Ask HN: What are the best engineering focused companies today?
I was browsing semiconductor history and came across a company called Linear Technology (who were acquired by Analog a few years back). It seemed very clear that Linear Tech was extremely focused on engineering, and a place where young analog engineers would go to learn the craft. I was surprised I didn't hear about them before but surely people in the field would know about them.
Well .. I am a software person, with a background in backend, cloud, distributed computing and AI. Are there any companies that fit the bill today? i.e. very strong engineering focus (but in software). A small to mid size company would be better to know about. I have heard that Google has a strong eng focus but they have various issues that make it undesirable for me to consider them for employment. Surely there are other companies (with less bureaucracy, elitism, etc.)
