I was looking at God's punishment the other day, and realized it was actually for the benefit of the one who received it
Even though it seemed extreme and other people died, actually we all die anyway; and so the value of life to God must stretch beyond death, and the punishment actually ensures their best outcome!
Without it they would all of walked far away from God. So just like we punish children and they hate it -- actually it is for their best
And if we give up on God at the point of seeing death, then we are rejecting the point of view from eternal life
