What makes you think governments are better allocators of capital than billionaires who are obviously producing valuable services and goods? The government is not creating anything: It extracts wealth rather than generates. It wastes an awful lot of the money it collects on bureaucracy and it doesn't create new jobs which add to the public purse through additional income taxes.
Many of the billionaires want to contribute towards the well-being of others, and decide to do it on their own accord rather than just giving their money to government where it is used inefficiently.
Well, usually the billionaires use common infrastructure that is paid for by the government. e.g. How could Musk deliver his cars without the roads that have been paid for by all? How could Bezos deliver products from Amazon?
Yeah, this really seems to be where the system is going haywire, to the detriment of all.
This inequality has even become a threat to democracy and the free economy.
