Ask HN: Has anyone here successfully completed a CCPA deletion request?

2 points by hansvm ↗ HN
So far every company I've dealt with has argued tooth and nail that there is some special reason the law doesn't apply to them, and I'm reasonably certain nobody will comply if I don't apply legal force. Has anyone had a better experience?

As a fun recent anecdote, Atlassian's official position so far (with respect to the Trello takeover -- my fault for not deleting the account ages ago) is:

(1) They've given away my account.

(1a) They haven't actually given away my account. They've assigned management of it to another entity.

(2) Because I technically have an account, they're allowed to require me to log in to prove that I am who I say I am.

(2a) Since they've unilaterally decided that my account is "being managed" by another entity, providing my valid login credentials doesn't suffice to prove my identity -- I need the other entity to authorize me for the login.

(3) Even if I successfully log in I won't be able to delete my account or all of the PII from it because the account is being managed for me by the aforementioned external entity.
