I do not, but I want to try streaming a hobby of mine and some projects around it. There is a great post[1] from about a month ago which goes over the gear and setup for a coding stream. I think with a lot of undertakings like this it's best to not get intimidated by gear and setups and just jump into it, no one's watching, yet(!)
In order to get over camera shyness and also to build up career capital, I started a YouTube channel four months. It's now reached 1.4k subscribers.
Topics:
— behind the scenes code and marketing tours of my 1-man web-app biz (it's been running for 10 years and while it doesn't earn big bucks, it provides for all my financial needs)
— "timeless" programming concepts (e.g. unix, vim, testing, checklists for reducing errors, data constraints)
Not quite live-streaming yet, but I think I'll be ready to go real-time soon.
I would say that three months of YouTubing has been incredibly rewarding. More so than a decade of blogging. The main reason is because you generate a much stronger bond with your audience when they see your face and hear your voice. I've received lots of thank-you emails and video call invites from really interesting people around the world.
