Ask HN: Is macOS ignoring your date and time update settings

In the interest of reducing my telemetry footprint, I set my laptop (High Sierra) to not autoupdate the time from apple servers. I've checked using the command 'sudo systemsetup -getusingnetworktime' -> Off.

However, using netted and pinhole, I still see timed trying to update the time from apple servers?

Where's that privacy I'm constantly reminded of? Anyone else facing this? Looks like some people were having this issue upwards of 2 years ago via a web search.
