Ask HN: How do you generate leads remotely?

So i work at a german company offering custom platform solutions for customers in retail, telco etc. Usually we sell agile teams for some kind of microservice/cloud development with a backend focus (mostly Java, some Go and Node, some Angular or React).

I am shifting from tech focused roles into a consulting role and have some difficulties in coming up with approaches to networking and lead generation. I would like to get into projects at an earlier phase so we can help customers with decision making, instead of just reacting to invitations to tender.

Have any of you guys had success with lead generation for early phases like this, especially remotely? If so i would love to hear about your experiences.
