Ask HN: Should I know how much equity the other guys have?

I'm employee number 2 in a startup of five people. The startup is 3 months old and raised 1mm. I'm an engineer and haven't done my homework on valuations, equity, investor relations etc... I don't know how much equity the other guys have. Is this normal? How should I broach this subject?
