I'll preface my statement by saying I'm an independent and don't support either major party because it seems like the moment you criticize either you get called a libshit or republicunt.
That said, why are ID's not required to vote in the US when they are required for every single other government related task? Congress could very cheaply fund such a program, and even if they didn't it's not as though licenses/ID's are free yet they're required for everything, even to get a job. Voter suppression is a bad argument but I've never heard another one.
Second, why are states choosing to mail everyone on voter rolls with a ballot whether they asked for it or not? Now does not seem like a time to be changing the way we vote. We manage to grocery shop for the past 6 months, we can manage to go to the polls without dying.
It almost seems like democrats want the results of this election to be in dispute. Because there is zero logic for the things they are doing and all of it requires extreme levels of cognitive dissonance to stomach.
Both sides are playing dirty and neither side wants to admit it.
I'm astonished at how many friends, brilliant people I'd never expect to become so tribal, have fallen into the trap of partisanship in the past four years. These people are 100% convinced the other side is evil, and are unwilling to admit their side could be wrong about anything. I will point out something a candidate on either side did any they will do all the kinds of mental gymnastics to justify it. And funnily enough I get flak for not choosing their side. Centrist are apparently aiding the enemy now.
Absentee Ballots without an ID have been a thing forever.
We also don’t all go grocery shopping on the same day and there are more grocery stores than polling places.
IDs are the domains of the states. States especially in the south do everything possible to make it difficult for minorities to get IDs.
Also you see things like allowing a gun license to be valid ID (mostly conservatives ) but not student IDs (lean liberal). Even when student IDs are issued by state schools.
"A few weeks ago, a theory that Trump could steal the election in this manner made the rounds. For this to happen, a string of very unlikely and highly improbable things would have to happen. The story died down. The press right now is very bad for Trump.
Next thing we know, a legal advisor to the Trump campaign tells a reporter that this extremely unlikely event WILL happen because the states will line up and do what Trump wants (overturn the will of the people). The Trump campaign wants this in the headlines.
Remember that each state has rules that govern the certifying of their elections. Yes, laws still matter. The Trump legal advisor wants you to think they don't. Why? Because when enough people lose confidence in democracy, democracy will fail...A goal of active measures is to get you to lose confidence in democratic processes. Trump is trying his best to get you to lose confidence in democratic processes. He is trying to make you think he can pull this off.
He's losing so he needs to present a situation that makes him look strong.
He wants you to think state legislatures will do whatever he tells them to do, including overturning the will of their own constituents because Trump ordered it.
For about a dozen reasons, the scenario is highly unlikely. If Biden wins across multiple swing states, getting hit by a meteor is more likely. But Trump wants the headline to be: Trump can steal the election!
Being rather perverse, my response is, "Trump wants this headline, so let's not give it to him."
To add (via @NastyOldWomyn): In PA, the GOP controlled legislature can’t appoint its own electors without amending the PA electoral code, which Dem Gov Wolf would veto, & the GOP lacks sufficient votes to overcome his veto. Same in MI & WI.

This no “both sides” argument.

Facts matter.
