Seriously? Ping tried to lookup "https://www.google.com/" - it does not understand or parse protocol schemes.

If you are referring to the full URL being hidden in the address bar that is an ongoing change to align better with other browsers (notably Safari) and an effort to improve security (e.g. google.myscamsite.com would show just myscamsite.com).
I see domain name, I cut domain name, and suddenly url is pasted. That's a glaring UI bug.
It's been like that for some time and is a not considered a bug but a feature. You click twice to see the full URL, some of this behavior can be changed in chrome://flags
I know it's been like that for some time. In my opinion, obscuring URL, which is a central concept of the web, is very bad for UI. Thanks for the flags hint, for now I solved this and some other usability problems by switching to firefox.

Btw, I saw speculations on HN, that chrome hiding url is google's scheme to promote AMP

Safari did it first, I believe Firefox is on track to do it as well.
Firefox makes the parts of url others hide grey, I hope they won't hide it
