This reminds me of the sci-fi short story in the book “Exhalation” called: “The Merchant and the Alchemist’s Gate”.
Time travel backwards is only possible if there is no "soul".

Why? The soul cannot occupy two points in time, it cannot split itself as we would split ourselves in two.

On the time travel backwards a person would immediately cross a point where their soul already existed, and hence a paradox.

If we assume there is no soul, and a person is just a collection of neurons and electrical activity, then time travel backwards is possible, so is teleportation
