I would look into paleo diets like the autoimmune protocol(AIP), the idea behind them is that removing certain foods is a lot more important than adding them for that sort of condition.
Currently use a paleo/ketogenic diet to manage IBS, and fortunately blueberries (and other low sugar fruits) can fit into this sort of approach.
As for drugs, nortriptyline helped me immediately (a few before bed for a while, then as needed) - cheap and safe drug. (Old anti-depressant, off-label for this treatment.)
I also make some dietary changes (paleo-sih) which helped over time.
If it could contribute to wellness by preventing a deficiency of some kind, the mere presence or absence alone could be a major factor, whether or not excessive intake has further beneficial effects.
It is rarely worth it to read individual studies in a field you aren't expert in. Most claimed findings are false. If something works there'll be a meta-study.
