Ask HN: Current state of Websocket & RTC in the browser

Hi HN! I'm working on an open-source multiple player social game in Elixir using Phoenix + Websocket + Twilio/Agora. Recently I did a real-life test run for an hour with ~60 participants (concurrent connections) and discovered things are not really smooth. There are dc now and then, and sometimes it takes a long time for a user to reconnect back. (This is mainly because I'm inexperience & there are still a lot I need to learn e.g. best practises to load test websocket + webrtc, to optimise websocket CPU usage, etc.)

So here is my ask HN: What is the current state of websocket-based real-time multiplayer game in the browser? Or more generally, what are some good examples of browser-based rtc application/game in production?

p.s. it has been almost a decade since the inception of Websocket (2011) and we still don't see a lot of real-time multiplayer game on the broswer! So am super curious about the current states of the arts and what are some great examples of websocket-based rtc broswer apps/games in production, etc. Thanks!
