Ask HN: Why are C#/.NET developers less paid than their Java equivalent?

I have noticed this trend on Stack Overflow and other reports, C# developers seem to earn less than their Java peers. Is this because there is a lot of C# developers that do Game Dev which is known to have way lower salaries or is there more to it?
