I remember when the Essential Phone was being hyped as an “iPhone killer”. There have been many other devices dubbed similar things, and those I don’t even remember now.
I don’t doubt they’re working on something interesting, but if I was developing something like that, the last thing I’d do is call it an iPhone-killer. That raises the stakes in a way that I don’t think serves any new project well, other than attracting short-term attention.
