Ask HN: Domain Registration Event Stream

IIRC there was a post on HN a few years ago about the initiative of Google (?) and a few registrars to provide a real-time stream of new domain registration events.

Substantially a websocket that you can subscribe to using an API key, and then watch for new registration events. That was part of some initiative to fight scam and botnets that register nonsensical domain names by thousands.

Does that ring any bell, anyone?
