I built this specifically for Node.JS developers, and it's already in production and fully open source. Does pretty much everything that you'd need in an basic API Gateway (although these are early days), and is extensible with JavaScript.

As a magic trick, it can act as a gateway for WebSockets as well - multiple backend services could talk to a single websocket connection/client.

Full disclosure: I did a submission a couple of months back and it just faded away. So doing one repost (according to the rules).

Just as a note: prism/prism.js is a fairly popular syntax highlighter. Might make it more difficult to get traction.
