[–] comeondude 5y ago ↗ Number one thing we can do to pull CO2 from the air is to restore soil across US and other continents. With “wartime” effort approach, we probably can restore majority of United States depleted farmlands to pristine condition within a decade. The couple who runs Biggest Little Farm managed to restore ecological balance to their 200 acres under 7 years with limited investment and people.Imagine if we have the entire US corps of Engineers with full budgetary backing of federal government tackle this? Plus green jobs! It’s incredibly exciting and hopeful that we have the resources within our grasp to restore ecological balance fairly quickly. [–] semperdark 5y ago ↗ Are there any articles you could link that go into more detail on soil restoration at scale, or specific examples of it? [–] comeondude 5y ago ↗ Two documentaries - Kiss the Ground and Biggest Little Farm are probably a good jumping point. [–] AlexanderDhoore 5y ago ↗ I'm pretty sure we aren't going to do any of these things. Humanity will just keep pillaging the planet, as is tradition. F you, got mine. [–] comeondude 5y ago ↗ Nahhhhh. Life wants to live.Millennials are pretty friggin cool. Young people want to take care of their home - we’re evolving towards a better world even if it doesn’t quite seem that way right now. We’ll get there.
