As someone who had mild to somewhat less than mild pain in wrists and finger joints I can give anecdotal evidence that training works. Power balls (heavy ones) and Captains of Crunch (still can't manage no. 2) took away years of pain. In retrospect it's obvious but perhaps one doesn't think of any bodypart as one needing regular exercise. Have pain? Exercise!
* Captains of Crush.

(There's only one captain of crunch, and he's too busy cleaning up after a berry-related mishap to help anyone.)

Recently I have developed wrist pain in right hand because of bending it slightly for pressing enter and other keys towards the end right end of the keyboard. If have been practicing to move my hand instead of bending. Seems like I'm feeling better, will practice these exercise too.
I find if I stop weight training I start getting wrist discomfort.

If you have wrist pain, starting weightlifting is risky and you should probably do these as "rehab".

But if you're going to take the time to do these exercises, you might as well do weightlifting to get exercise, strength bone density and longer life as well.
