The chronic Lyme scam is basically a highly evolved social engineering attack.
A large percentage of the population has unexplained symptoms, and perhaps mainstream medicine doesn't have a good solution.
Quacks and conspiracy theorists on social media convinced their victims that they are infested with Lyme disease and that the CDC, mainstream doctors, and mainstream testing cannot be trusted.
When a mainstream doctor or lab tells them they don't have Lyme, instead of providing assurances, it only reinforces the false narrative.
The victim then spends all their money on scammy doctors and labs that tell them what they want to hear.
