Dude - it's Rob Enderle. I think the better question is: Has Rob Enderle just harmed humanity once again by publishing an article that is so flawed in its premise that any human who reads it loses IQ points.
Like Reddit, most here will submit or up vote anything that furthers their anti-Apple narrative regardless of whether it's foundation is based on facts or not.
Oh, and when it's an anti-Google article, stand back because otherwise you'll get run over by the mob that floods the thread white knighting for Google.
I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that most supposed geeks who support Google/Android are no better than the mainstream masses who shop at Walmart and watch NASCAR races, because like those people, they too have no taste.
I think Apple success has been enabled their investment in a solid OS platform that they have been able to move to new devices. This is not easy, and it is often overlooked.
It takes a long time to build an OS. The move from Mac to iPhone to iPad was pretty well done (yes, you could argue that iOS is not tablet specific enough), and RIM, Android Honeycomb, and HP/Pre are having a hell of a time catching up, Microsoft are still getting their phone OS sorted, and Nokia just threw in the towel.
While I don't think iOS is the pinnacle of operating systems Apple's investment in engineering Cocoa/iOS is certainly paying off.
Maybe.. just maybe.. Apple is doing all the right things ( so far as profitability is concerned ) and the competition doesn't have a clue. They are competing on Apple's turf in much of the same way they have always done things, wondering why they are getting smoked in the revenue and profit dept.

[ 3.1 ms ] story [ 22.7 ms ] threadIt felt like I was becoming dumber every second, in contrast with the enlightenment feeling Hacker News articles used to provoke.
It could be true that HN is becoming Reddit, filled with conspiracy theorist who don't know what they are talking about.
