Ask HN: Would you pay to get rid of Google ads?

(first post, be kind if i'm doin' it wrong)

Google used to be the Ferrari of search engines.

IMHO, it is still the best, but good results are hidden under a pile of garbage. Ads, nudges, and all sorts of way to make money.

I wish Google offered a paid subscription for pure, unadulterated, straight up great results. All the monetization ripped out out of the results ranking algorithms.

Speculation:

- Guess: it's a lot of work to "strip monetization from the current engine", which works great (makes money). So no incentive there.

- I wonder: how much does Google make off me? $20 a month? $200? $2000? I doubt anyone would pay that much for slightly better results.
