They are basically movies broken up into 10 pieces. Which are fun to watch. They are more casual than watching a real movie. They wouldn't cut it as a movie, so are cheaper to make.
But how do you get enough content?
Our attention spans are shot, but at the same time we are a binge society. You easily blow one season on a week night (125 min total). They seem to only have half the equation.
[edit] The phone flipping gimmick (If you flip the phone the aspect and sometimes the filming camera changes) is also the whole, why no one want to watch a VR movie. We watch movies to relax not to have to make choices and move body bits.
