Do the gospels speak of Jesus eating dates? Fish, bread, figs, lamb all come to mind, but not dates.

But his ancestor David did give a gift of dates to all the people when the ark was brought home to Jerusalem (2 Sam 6.19). So yes, he probably ate them too.

I'm not sure if the gospels mention dates but I believe the quoran has a reference regarding Jesus's birth.

I believe there are also thousands of strains of dates at risk of being lost or that have been lost in Afghanistan due to the years of war.

I'm astounded that 2000 year old seeds are still viable. I'm not a fan of GMO products but there might be something worth looking into in the date's genome.
