Ask HN: Best Remote Desktop Software?

Looking for remote desktop software that will allow me to logon to some platform (Windows, Linux) via most personal laptops.

Personal Computer --> Portal/Login --> Virtual Desktop

Basically looking for Desktop computing "in the cloud".

I've heard of Amazon Spaces and Itopia (Google Cloud).

Any one else have any other recommendations?

TurboVNC is the best VNC. Run one of those on a cheap cloud instance, maybe alongside a Pritunl install, and you can connect up to a performant, resizeable, 3d-accelerated X desktop from any platform for dirt cheap.
