Configuration Files in Terms of User Empowerment (informal.systems)

I wrote a note on configuration file formats, trying to take a long view and to consider the choice of format in light of empowering user-authors. I advocate for a flexible approach leveraging “configurationless”, Dhall, or bespoke DSLs, depending on the circumstance.

I think I probably omitted some key considerations and options, but it did help us clarify our thinking on the subject at Informal.
