Ask HN: Does your organization track metrics like velocity and burn down rates?

I'm curious about product organizations that are tracking quantitative metrics like burn down rates, velocities, etc. What other metrics are you tracking? Do you feel like they help or are they vanity metrics? Or worse, are they harmful?
