Ask HN: X11 on macOS

The "go to" for X11 on MacOS is XQuartz, but honestly unless I am doing simple things, a lot of programs just don't work (especially commercial ones) -- Metashape from Agisoft is an example. A lot of the errors come across in the X11 forwarding.

Homebrew/etc aren't options, they just install the "latest" old version.

What do people use these days?

It seams like the default is accelerated VNC clients instead of X11.

Is there something I am missing?
