True - but you cannot deny that the shrill outrage and “sky is falling” message pushed by everyone even came remotely to pass. This limits the power of future efforts, like limiting section 230, that IMO are much more dangerous to the industry. But now that you have cried wolf over NN the pushback will not be as effective.
Can someone explain to me basis of the argument here?

Like if someone wants to sell my grandparents a "Facebook messenger + FaceTime + Email"-only tier of internet service for a discount then God bless them.

It serves to further entrench incumbents and raises the barrier to entry for newcomers.

Deals like this typically benefit the Facebooks of the world because they can afford to pay for preferential treatment. This is commonly seen in developing nations where mobile data caps are low but Facebook pays to be exempted from data allowances. Facebook then becomes the defacto way of using the Internet because it's all people can afford.

If Facebook want paying this fee then carrier's would have more incentive to compete on data price rather than trying to court the best range of subsidies.

It also doesn't make any sense from a technical pov 10gb of data is 10gb of data, your carrier/isp has no reason to care who provides that data or what it contain s.

Just to nitpick. From a technical point of view, there is indeed a difference. 10GB of Facebook traffic can go through an internet exchange that my ISP is tied in to, straight to Facebook's servers. Traffic to smaller players will have to go through my transit provider, and I'll have to pay for it.
Because the opposite is also true

If you want to watch youtube, that will be an additional $5. Want to play World of Warcraft? You will need the $12 MMO package in addition to the $8 gaming package. And that shiny new apple iPad will def need the $15 apple package so you can use iMessage. Sometimes you might work from home and you need a $50 "Business class broadband" to use your companies VPN. It might seem expensive but you also can't do video conferences without it so if you want to facetime granny or Zoom for work meetings it is essential. And don't even think about streaming netflix\hulu\etc without the the movie access package ($15.99 for the first 12 months and then $24.99 each moth after)
