Isn't GMail's new feature is huge privacy hole?

Am I the only one who thinks that GMail's new feature that suggests people to add to an email is a big privacy hole? It suggests people whom both you and the initial recipient have a mutual contacts. Thus, it lets you know people whom others have been emailing, as long as you know them too. I just found out that a friend of mine must have a mutual contact with my old college roommate thanks to GMail's suggestion.

Not sure why no one else has been talking about this.

Humm interesting. I thought they just calculated that based on who was cc'ed on emails etc not by actually looking through other users contacts. Are you sure this is how it works? I can't imagine it is since they wouldn't have access to the contact lists for non gmail addresses.
What? How would they not have access to people you've emailed on other domains? You're sending mail through their system.
I think it just uses your personal email history to create clusters of common recipients
This is an amazing feature! (sarcasm) Thanks to it, I got accidentally cc'ed emails from people who obviously had no intention to cc me. One of them was a pretty private conversation. I think this new feature is a monumental UX screw-up. It's simply to easy to accidentally click on the suggested link.
Let's say you're having an affair. Hypothetically of course...would this then show your wife your new "friend"?
