If you are interested in the history of smell, one of the first book to touch upon the subject in the 80's is a highly recommended read: https://www.amazon.com/Foul-Fragrant-French-Social-Imaginati...

The lack of smell pollution nowadays is something we really take for granted and the book is a nice reminder of how much of a luxury (although in other cases also a loss) that is.

Agreed. I was humbled of this fact when traveling abroad for work to a new place where the airport's septic system was next to the main road. I was holding my breath trying to not to make a scene as all the other people around me seemed to not even notice the smell.
Requires physical access to an unlocked Android device... at which point you could just open the app and read the messages instead of trying to brute-force it.

Would be nice if Signal added biometric unlock of the app like MySudo offers so that even if my unlocked device is picked up/snagged you still need biometric of passcode entry to open the app.

EDIT: Looks like this is an option on iOS... never knew about it until now. Just turned on biometric unlock!
