Is there a web 2.0ish company that makes buying/selling stocks/currencies easy?

I just wanted to put $500 buying some forex/currencies as a test investment, and every online brokerage account I found had requirements like "$5,000 minimums" plus web interfaces that looked like it's 1999. Does anyone know a modern solution? Thank you!!!
